Are you listing, selling or renting in Warwick? Make sure to add trash cans to your final walk-through list.
The Warwick Sanitation Department provides free rolling trash containers to all residents of Warwick. It seems that some home owners are so fond of these special trash containers, that they take the containers with them when they move. When trash containers disappear, the new owner will not have any trash pick up until he/she reports the missing trash container as stolen and requests a new one. Imagine what kind of call or text you’ll receive when the buyers learn that the city won’t pick up their piles of packing materials and boxes after moving into their new home.
The containers are the property of the City of Warwick. If a resident damages the container they will be responsible for the cost of replacement. One set of containers are provided per household. Additional containers will be provided at no charge for larger families.
Would-be thieves should know that each trash container has a unique serial number which is linked to the property address. They should also know that the containers are too large for the curbside pick up in most other communities, according to the Warwick Sanitation Department.
