Broker Pre-License

The Broker’s Pre-license course is designed to successfully prepare an individual to take the Rhode Island Real Estate Broker’s Examination. This course reviews not only areas covered in the Salesperson’s Examination course but also areas included in the test that are specific to real estate brokerage.

In order to sit for the Broker’s Examination, you must have been an active salesperson for at least two years OR obtain 90 hours of education approved by the R.I. Department of Business Regulation in addition to the 45-hour Sales Pre-license course and 3-hour Lead Paint Hazards/Mitigation course.

If you’ve had a salesperson’s license for at least 2 years with transactions, you are not required to take the broker’s prelicense course, however, doing so will better prepare you for the broker exam.

Please refer to the real estate section of Department of Business Regulations website for an up-to date list of Broker requirements and application.   For any questions regarding the application or State requirements please contact DBR directly at 401-462-9506 option 6 for Real Estate.
