Is “your” home inspector licensed? Since July 1, 2020, anyone who conducts a home inspection for a home or other residential property located in Rhode Island must be licensed as a home inspector or associate home inspector in Rhode Island. This includes home inspectors who are already licensed in other states like Massachusetts or Connecticut.
The RI Contractors’ Registration and Licensing Board switched licensing vendors shortly before this date and discovered a glitch with the licensing look up feature. Unfortunately, the problem has yet not been fixed.
To check a license, use the link below or contact the Contractors’ Registration and Licensing Board web site: www.crb.ri.gov/home-inspector. You may also contact the RIAR Legal Department at 401-432-6945 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
