Enforcement begins April 1
A Rhode Island law requiring home inspectors to be licensed will finally be enforced, two decades after it was first enacted.
Starting on January 1, 2020, inspectors will be able to apply for home inspector or associate inspector licensing. According to the Rhode Island Contractors’ Registration and Licensing Board, inspectors will have a period of three months to obtain a license before enforcement begins on April 1, 2020.
The Rhode Island Association of REALTORS® Forms Committee is working to update purchase and sales agreements, the Repair Addendum, and other forms by the end of the first quarter in 2020.
