Are “your” home inspectors licensed? If you refer home inspectors to customers and clients in Rhode Island, make sure that they are licensed in Rhode Island by April 1, 2020, which is when enforcement begins. This includes home inspectors who are already licensed in other states like Massachusetts or Connecticut. The Rhode Island Association of REALTORS® (RIAR) is in the process of replacing “recognized inspector” with “licensed inspector” in the RIAR Purchase and Sales Agreements and other forms to help you prepare for this change. Don’t get caught short or risk a negligent referral claim during the busy spring market!
