The NAR Board of Directors recently approved a series of recommendations from NAR’s Professional Standards Committee that extends the application of Article 10 of the Code of Ethics to discriminatory speech and conduct outside of members’ real estate practices. The changes go into effect immediately but do not retroactively apply to members’ past activities or actions. REALTORS® who make discriminatory remarks, on their business or personal social media accounts, can be subject to disciplinary action. NAR will host monthly trainings to provide guidance on the changes to the Code of Ethics that were approved by the NAR Board of Directors on November 13, 2020, and to provide an opportunity to ask questions of our policy experts. View and register for an upcoming training schedule here. Visit nar.realtor for detailed information and answers to frequently asked questions about the changes.
