EVICTION FAQ

There's a lot of confusion around evictions in Rhode Island. Homes RI, managed by the Housing Network of Rhode Island, has recently refreshed their evictions and CDC moratorium FAQs. The new fact sheet covers evictions, tenant rights, and rental assistance. The National Association of REALTORS (NAR) has also released a list of federal eviction moratorium FAQs to help members navigate this issue. https://narfocus.com/billdatabase/clientfiles/172/9/4134.pdf Also, if you or someone you know owes rent for any month from March 1 through December 2020, the Safe Harbor Program can provide relief. Both landlords and tenants are encourages to visit the Safe Harbor program at United Way of Rhode Island online or call 211 for details. These funds may not be available after December—that is unclear until further action is taken by Congress. It is important to apply for assistance before the end of December. There are now reduced documentation requirements to be approved for assistance.
