Do you know how to prepare your clients and customers for the new lead laws?   Many laws that impose new penalties are already in effect. The others will go into effect in 2024. The Rhode Island Association of REALTORS® has created a timeline to help you and your clients comply.  

These laws affect landlords, tenants, sellers and buyers of multi-unit properties built before 1978 and single-family homes and residential condominiums that may be used as rentals. As a result of new laws relating to lead water pipes, purchase and sales agreements must give buyers a period of ten days to inspect for lead hazards if the property built before 2011 instead of 1978. RIAR has updated the RIAR forms to comply.
