New Scam! Beware if you receive an email from someone who claims to be a buyer and sends you a Zoom link to meet with them. When you click on the link, it tells you that your Zoom is out of date. You click update and download several files. Those files are NOT from zoom. Do not click on them.
The introductory language of the email will read something similar to:
"I saw your home listing at XXX and it really caught my eye! I'd love to learn a bit more, particularly about the HOA fees, any recent upgrades, and how active the listing has been.
Would you have time for a quick Zoom chat today to go over details and possibly schedule a tour? Let me know what works best for you."
Be vigilant - regularly check the news section on the home page of RIRealtors.org to stay on top of the latest email scams.
Also, in case you missed this earlier notice:
Scammers have been sending fake emails pretending to be from staff and/or members of RI REALTORS®. Just a couple of the most recent scams include an offer of a free piano and a "secure" message including an RI REALTORS® Annual Report from our President. Both are fake emails.
