What a thrill to be part of Habitat for Humanity’s Home Dedication last Saturday for Catherine Chabot and her 7-year old son Christian. As a baby, Christian suffered an accident which left him with severe disabilities. His condition now requires special home adaptations to extend his life expectancy. (Read our press release.)
The Rhode Island Association of REALTORS® (RIAR) was proud to help Habitat reach their fundraising goal in order to adapt the Chabot home so that Christian may enjoy it for years to come. Many thanks to those of you who added to RIAR’s $5000 donation with individual gifts of your own. Catherine Chabot couldn’t have been more thankful and I couldn’t have been more proud. It truly was a special day.
On other fronts, it’s been just over a week since Phil Tedesco, President-Elect Joe Luca and I returned from the International MIPIM Conference in Cannes, France. More than 24,000 investors gathered from all over the world to meet with Realtors, commerce departments and others who were ready to tout their locale as the perfect place for businesses to thrive.
Our short visit to Cannes was remarkably productive in showcasing Rhode Island on the international stage. Thanks to our collaboration with Commerce RI, the Governor’s office and the National Association of REALTORS® we were well prepared with digital and hard copy materials which showcased Rhode Island projects ripe for development like Quonset Business Park, City Centre Warwick and the I-95 Redevelopment District.
We achieved our initial goal to test the waters on what MIPIM has to offer to our consumers, our members and our State. I’m happy to report that it was a sound decision to think outside the box and I hope RI REALTORS® builds on this dynamic opportunity in the future.
And finally, a gentle reminder…
Please remember to educate potential customers about situational agency at your first point of contact. It’s critically important that our customers understand who is representing their needs in order to have a successful and smooth transaction.
With that said, I hope you have a successful start to the spring selling season and I hope you have a chance to enjoy the longer days and warmer weather ahead.
Brenda L. Marchwicki
President, Rhode Island Association of REALTORS®
P.S. Many of you know that I race cars. If you also race, either cars or motorcycles, could you please let me know. I may have an event that you will be interested in!
