What are Opportunity Zones?
An Opportunity Zone is an economically-distressed community where new investments, under certain conditions, may be eligible for preferential tax treatment. Localities qualify as Opportunity Zones if they have been nominated for that designation by the state and that nomination has been certified by the Secretary of the U.S. Treasury via his delegation of authority to the Internal Revenue Service.
How do you search for Opportunity Zones in Matrix?
Opportunity Zones can easily be made visible by turning on the “Designated Opportunity Zones” layer via the Layers icon in any map search within Matrix. The zones will appear in red on the map. You can also utilize any of the radius/polygon icons to draw boundaries or click on any of the listings in the visible Opportunity Zone.
