Warwick, RI — January 28, 2022 – Each quarter, the Realtor Foundation: Rhode Island accepts applications for grants from local non-profit organizations that share its mission to provide resources to help create more productive and enriched communities. Recently, it awarded $10,000 in grants to four applicants who applied for funds during the Foundation’s fourth-quarter grant cycle.

Awarded $2500 each, grant recipients included the Rhode Island Community Food Bank and Tides Family Services, both of which targeted the funds to serve low-income and at-risk children and families, across Rhode Island. The Newport County YMCA received $2500 to help run essential programs; and $2500 was also awarded to the Seamen’s Church Institute of Newport, which is using the funds to keep their listed building functioning in order to provide continued service to 500 people a month.

Representatives from entities like the Seamen’s Church Institute understand the struggle of keeping essential programs going at a time when nonprofits are seeing a significant increase in the demand for services. For many of these organizations, grants are crucial for supporting programs and services that meet the needs of their community, and for some, they can be the primary source of funding during times when fundraising is a challenge.

“In spite of restrictions due to Covid-19, Seaman’s continues to serve as best we can with community meals to those in need, running summer camp with Newport community school, hosting Alcoholics Anonymous meetings, and adapting to these challenging times,” said Ann Souder, executive director of Seamen's Church Institute.

“None of these unique services would be available without the generous support of donors,” Souder added.

The REALTOR® Foundation: RI, the charitable arm of the Rhode Island Association of Realtors, provides grants to 501c3 organizations each quarter of up to $5000. The deadline for the next application cycle is February 15 at 5 pm. Learn more about Realtor Foundation: Rhode Island quarterly grants and retrieve an application on www.realtorfoundationri.org.
