Would you like to have input into issues that affect you and your profession?  Become a leader at the national level.  Apply to serve on the 2022-2023 National Association of REALTORS® Board of Directors by August 4th

Performance standards: NAR will require all directors to meet performance standards, including:

  • Complete an annual orientation and NAR fiduciary refresher module.
  • Serve on at least one NAR committee, forum, or advisory group to stay informed on key policy positions to act as a local member resource.
  • Attend the NAR Legislative and NXT meetings.

 Positions Available:

NAR has made major changes to the structure of its board of directors.   On July 31st, NAR will determine the number of allocated positions using a formula based on the number of primary members in each local and state REALTOR®  association.

State allocated positions: (selected by the RIAR Board of Directors)

  • RIAR President (automatic)
  • RIAR President-Elect (automatic, if recommended bylaws provision is approved.)
  • A possible additional position (if allocated by NAR)

 The RIAR Board of Directors will select one NAR director who holds primary membership in a small local association and one NAR Director who holds primary membership in a medium-sized local association in Rhode Island based on the primary membership numbers that NAR will release on July 31st.  The categories for these associations could change.

Large - 2,000 and over – each local association of this size selects its own NAR director(s.)  If you are a primary member of the Greater Providence Board of REALTORS®, please contact GPBOR directly for information about deadlines and procedures.

Medium- 500 – 1999 – (selected by the RIAR Board of Directors)

  • Kent Washington Association of REALTORS®.
  • Newport County Board of REALTORS®
  • Northern RI Board of REALTORS® 

Small - 499 or fewer – (selected by the RIAR Board of Directors)

  • Rhode Island Commercial and Appraisal Board of REALTORS®

Expenses:
RIAR will reimburse NAR directors selected by RIAR for expenses, such as transportation, lodging, and per diem meals.

Terms:
RIAR-selected director positions have one-year terms with a maximum of three consecutive terms. Each term will start on December 1, 2022, and end on November 30, 2023.

Candidate interviews with the RIAR Nominating Committee will take place on Zoom on the morning of Friday, August 19th.  The RIAR Board of Directors will vote to approve NAR Directors on August 23rdLocal associations with more than 2,000 primary members will have different deadlines and processes.
