It is said, “a picture speaks a thousand words” – nowhere does that hold true more than in real estate. State-Wide MLS offers a number of listing photography services that will ensure that prospective buyers get the truest image of your listings. 

Listing photos can be entered either by the listing agent or by using the photo services of the MLS contracted photographer, First Look Photo.

» REALTOR®-Submitted Photos

REALTORS® can upload up to 40 property photos for free directly into their listing in Matrix, or submit them to MLS photo department via email. Please be sure to include the MLS number, property address and the listing agent’s office code.

All REALTOR®-submitted photos must be entered into MLS within 7 days or else a $40 fine will be assessed. Failure to comply within 7 days after the deadline will result in an additional fine of $20.

Recommended Photo Format

When submitting photos either to the MLS Photo Department or directly into the MLS system, please keep in mind that the photos you submit will be exported to various websites over the internet, including RILiving.com and Realtor.com.

To ensure that your listings are viewed correctly via all internet sites, we highly recommend the following:

• Photos should be in JPEG format (.jpg)
• Photos should be  in COLOR (not black & white)
• Photo orientation should be landscape

Recommended Photo File Name

When emailing your photos to the MLS Photo Department, we recommend naming the photo files with the MLS number of the property. If submitting additional photos, please add a suffix to the MLS# to designate the order you would like them added. For example:

123456_1.jpg (main photo)
123456_2.jpg (first supplement photo)
123456_3.jpg (second supplement photo)

Confirmation of Receipt

Members sending photos via e-mail will receive a return message acknowledging receipt of your photos.

Photo Enhancements

Please note, digital images cannot be enhanced by MLS staff. All photos received in digital format will be entered “as is”. Please remember, all existing MLS rules and regulations regarding the submittal and formatting of listing photos still apply. Non-conforming e-photos will be returned.

• MLS Photographer takes exterior/interior enhanced photo – appointment only -$115.00
• MLS Photographer takes Virtual Tour – $140.00
• MLS Photographer takes Slideshow – $165.00

Re-takes – Excluding wrong photos, the normal photo fee of $20.00 will be charged to re-take a photo that is presently in MLS. This same applies to seasonal re-takes.

First Look Photo will take photos in all locations throughout Rhode Island (excluding New Shoreham). Massachusetts includes: Uxbridge, Blackstone, Bellingham, Seekonk, Plainville, Wrentham, Rehoboth, Swansea, Fall River, Westport, Somerset, and Swansea. Other Massachusetts towns are covered with an additional fee.
